Position Profile:

UOWD is currently seeking applications for the position of Sports & Student Support Programs Coordinator.

This position is a key service position at UOWD.  It is crucial to ensure an energetic and vibrant UOWD student experience and that students have a range of support programs available as they progress through their studies at the University.  The successful candidate will work closely with UOWD leaders to oversee the operation of UOWD Sports and Support Programs.  In performing their duties, the Sport & Student Support Programs coordinator will ensure that UOWD’s proud tradition of sporting success continues and that all students can access a range of Sports activities that contribute to the high-quality UOWD student experience.

This position is a casual position and is only available for Three Months starting in September to November 2017. Applicants must be UAE residents that can provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their sponsors.

Key Responsibilities:

Sports
• Recruits and supervise sports team coaches.
• Monitors games rooms & student lounges smooth functioning and integrates student feedback into planning for
provision of new equipment
• Supervising of students at all sporting events both on and off- campus and ensuring that students adhering to
discipline and respect.
• Responsible for organizing student sporting activities for both competitive and non competitive sporting events and
liaise with other universities and/or sporting organizations regarding participation in competitions for students
• Supervising students in off campus sports activities and competitions
• Coaching sports teams for sports specialised in.
• Develop & coordinate training session’s programs for student teams and liaising with the coaches to ensure smooth
functioning.
• Responsible for organizing transportation and booking facilities for sports teams practices and competitions
• Purchasing, distribution and maintenance of sports uniforms & equipment and restocking as and when needed.

Student Support Programs
• Oversee the on-going development and implementation of study skills development workshops to enhance student
preparedness for program learning requirements and contribute to graduate outcomes
• Coordinate tutoring booking between students and tutors and ensure tutor payments are completed as required
• Coordinate Academic writing centre sessions with the facilitator and student and ensure smooth functioning of the
program
• Liaise with faculty Deans and coordinators, lecturers and external providers to arrange for facilitators for the academic
skills workshops and coordinate with facilitator on workshop requirements
• Organize and supervise all academic skills workshops
• Undertake recruitment and training of peer tutors and monitor tutoring services to ensure quality and effectiveness of
service is delivered
• Monitor and review procedures relevant to the Support programs ; recommend improvements and implement as
approved

Qualification:

Relevant tertiary qualification or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience.
