Position Profile:

UOWD is currently seeking applications from enthusiastic, dedicated and self-motivated individuals to fill the position of Library Assistant. The UOWD Library operates 6 days per week from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm. Applicants should be flexible with work timing, possess a pleasant and helpful attitude towards students and staff and be able to show initiative.

The main purpose of this position is to support the work of the Librarians and provide service to library clients by circulating materials, organizing and processing materials, organizing the circulation desk, and helping clients.

This position requires substantial knowledge of information resources available to the library users. Expertise in using a wide range of information tools, equipment and technology is required. The Library Assistant may provide assistance to the Librarians and Manager Library Services in the planning, reviewing and reshaping of Library operations.

Essential Criteria:

To qualify for this position you will have;
• Diploma in library and information science, or equivalent
• At least 2 years prior work experience in a similar role
• Excellent Organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills in English (writing and speaking)
• Problem solving skills and customer relations skills
• Flexibility regarding working hours
• A commitment to Values of Passion, Courage, Integrity, Exceptional, Collaboration and Creativity

Desirable Criteria:

• Previous working experience in a library
• Prior experience of using KOHA Library Management system

Remuneration & Benefits:

The successful candidates will receive a remuneration package which includes an attractive tax free salary ranging from AED 84, 000 - AED 96,000 per annum, five weeks of paid leave per year, annual air ticket, private medical insurance for self and eligible dependents, life & disability policy, professional development assistance, education allowance for up to 3 eligible children, professional development and fee waiver for self and dependents looking to pursue higher studies.
