Position Profile:

UOWD is currently seeking an Adjunct Lecturer for the Faculty of Engineering & Information Sciences to teach ENGG956- Financial Management For Engineered Assets.

The position is for the Winter 2021 semester commencing in January 2021.

It is open to qualified candidates having the following attributes: 

  • PhD. Degree in the discipline (or related discipline) from a recognized international institute
  • Teaching experience at an internationally recognized institution teaching subjects in the area of power systems.
  • An active researcher in the field (or related field) with publications in recognized international journals
  • Fluency in English language (both spoken and written)
Subject Description:

Financial management principles, time value of money, discrete assets considerations, continuous assets considerations, identification of cost elements, cost prediction methods, regulatory economics, financial case development, engineered asset repair-replace decision making.

Subject Learning Outcomes : On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:

1. Understand the approach taken to developing financial cases.
2. Understand the data requirements for financial modelling and decision making.
3. Demonstrate a working knowledge of the basic tools for valuation of projects.
4. Demonstrate a working knowledge of the identification of cost streams to the required level of accuracy for financial planning and project evaluation.
5. Demonstrate a working knowledge of basic financial modelling techniques for typical engineered asset management situations.
6. Put together a financial case utilizing the assistance of a management accountant as appropriate.
